The Dalton-Whitfield County area extends the "red carpet treatment" to

New residents are required to purchase a new tag for automobiles within 30 days of arrival. Needed information includes title or registration, lien-holder's name and address, insurance card, and last tag receipt. The Whitfield County Tax
Commissioner's Office is located in the Whitfield County Courthouse on
West Crawford Street in Dalton and can be reached at TELEVISION/CABLE/SATELLITE SERVICES:
Newcomers from out-of-state can
obtain a Georgia driver's license through the Department of Public
Safety, located at 235 Wagner Drive in Dalton. Hours for testing
are Tuesday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Saturday
from 8 a.m. to Noon. A current out-of-state driver's license and
proof of Georgia residence, along with a $20 fee to be paid in cash, are the requirements. More

Their website is: www.dds.ga.gov. Three suppliers provide utilities in Whitfield County, depending upon location. Electricity, gas, water, and sewerage are provided for the City of Dalton through Dalton Utilities at 1200 V. D. Parrott, Jr. Parkway, which can be dialed at 706-278-1313.
North Georgia Electric Membership Corporation
is
located at 1850 Cleveland Highway in Dalton, 706-259-9441. The Board of Elections and Registrars is located at 205 N. Selvidge Street, Suite K in Dalton and can be reached by calling 706-278-7183. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Most customers moving into previously occupied homes or apartments can establish same day service by just plugging their telephone into a jack at the new location, pressing "5" on the telephone touchpad, listening to the recording and following the directions. Windstream's Quick Connect was designed to make moving into your new home easier.

By contacting the Dalton City Schools Administration and Services Division on 300 West Waugh Street at 706-876-4000 (www.daltonpublicschools.com) or Whitfield County Schools Central Office on 1306 South Thornton Avenue in Dalton at 706-278-8070 (www.whitfield.k12.ga.us) newcomers can determine appropriate school placement for family members. Registration requirements include the student's birth certificate, as well as current health and academic records.
